I started hiking today from Ridge Road, which is now the 15.0 mile point.  When I hiked here in April, it was the 14.0 mile point.  This is due to some trail re-routing below this point due to revocation by a landowner of the trail on his land.  This was due to rude people not staying on the trail, but using his barn and yard as a recreation area, instead of passing through on the trail.  In any case, I hiked about 13 miles today, hiking to the 21.2 point before turning around for home.  It didn't rain while I was out, either.

Some logging is underway on the trail, and right after starting I encountered this device, right out of Terminator:

Then it was a nice hike through the forest.  You drop down to the Otselic River and cross it on NY26, then up 500' in elevation on the other side of it, to the top of Truman Hill.

I met a group from the Onondaga Chapter of the ADK having a little break from their walk at the spot I decided to turn around.  They were very nice and invited to me join one of the group outings.  They had parked one car at Stage road and another at the Otsego River Bridge on NY26, and were hiking from Stage road down.

I at a brief lunch of peanuts and a cheese stick and started walking back.  I caught the group only because they stopped to sign a register and then again to enjoy a breeze on the cliff above the river 500' below.  Then I went on ahead.

After crossing NY26, the climb up McDermott Hill on the other side was much steeper and longer than I remembered the descent as having been only a little while ago.  And it was getting pretty warm - about 86 when I got back to the car.  I ended up with a total of 13.6 miles on the GPS, and 5 hours out, some of which was not moving time.
